Wishlist

Låt nummer fem från femte studioalbumet Yield 1998.
Spelad live 212 gånger sedan 1997.

Text: Eddie Vedder
Musik: Eddie Vedder

I wish I was a neutron bomb, for once I could go off
I wish I was a sacrifice but somehow still lived on
I wish I was a sentimental ornament you hung on
The Christmas tree, I wish I was the star that went on top
I wish I was the evidence, I wish I was the grounds
For 50 million hands upraised and open toward the sky

I wish I was a sailor with someone who waited for me
I wish I was as fortunate, as fortunate as me
I wish I was a messenger and all the news was good
I wish I was the full moon shining off a Camaro's hood

I wish I was an alien at home behind the sun
I wish I was the souvenir you kept your house key on
I wish I was the pedal brake that you depended on
I wish I was the verb 'to trust' and never let you down

I wish I was a radio song, the one that you turned up
I wish...
I wish...

Red Mosquito

Ooops, jag glömde visst "veckans låt" förra fredagen... :) Så då kommer den nu istället!
Med Ben Harper! Äääälskar denna live-versionen!
Red Mosquitio är spelad live 77 gånger sedan 1995.

Text: Eddie Vedder
Musik: Hela bandet

Watched from the window, with a red mosquito
I was not allowed to leave the room
I saw the sun go down, and now it's coming up
Somewhere in the time between

I was bitten, must have been the devil
He was just paying me...
A little visit, reminding me of his presence
Letting me know, he's a-waiting... oh

Red man's your neighbor, call it behavior
While you're climbing up slippery hills
Two steps ahead of him, punctures in your neck
Hovering just above your bed
Hovering just above your bed

I was bitten, must have been the devil
He was just paying me...
A little visit, reminding me of his presence
And letting me know, he's a'waiting, he's a'waiting...
Ooh....

If I had known then what I know now...
If I had known then what I know now...
If I had known then what I know now...
If I had known then what I know now...

Not for you

Från tredje studioalbumet Vitalogy. Spelad live 220 gånger sedan 1994.

Eddie Vedder om musikindustrin:
"It's not that we want to take credit. That's fine. I don't care. I don't want credit, it's not like I'm trying to claim that. But when they start acting like they own you that they are the reason... that's something that's not true. These attitudes out there that the music is theirs that it's the industry's music... And it's not. It's mine. And it's yours. Whoever's listening to it. It's mine and it's yours. And everybody in between, they're the distributors. I think that something like a music channel can be very powerful. Sometimes they think they're the ones who decide what's heard. I think that's a dangerous situation. And, I think, what's more dangerous is that they think it belongs to them. That's probably what Not For You is about." Citat från denna intervjun.

Text: Eddie Vedder (hela bandet)
Musik: Eddie Vedder (hela bandet)

restless soul, enjoy your youth
like muhammad hits the truth
can't escape from the common rule
if you hate something, don't you do it too...too...
small my table, a sits just two
got so crowded, i can't make room
oh, where did they come from? stormed my room!
and you dare say it belongs to you...to you...
this is not for you
this is not for you
this is not for you
oh, not for you...ah, you...
...scream...my friends...don't call me...
...friends, no they don't scream...
...my friends don't call...my friends don't...
all that's sacred comes from youth
dedication, naive and true
with no power, nothing to do
i still remember, why don't you...don't you...
this is not for you
this is not for you
this is not for you
oh, never was for you...fuck you...
this is not for you...
oh, this is not for you...yeah, you...
this is not for you...
oh, not for you...
oh, you...

Soon forget

Näst sista låten på sjätte studioalbumet Binaural. Eddie och en ukulele - what more can you ask for? :-)
Spelad live av Pearl Jam endast 55 gånger sedan år 2000.

Text: Eddie Vedder
Musik: Eddie Vedder

sorry is the fool who trades his soul for a corvette
thinks he'll get the girl, he'll only get the mechanic
what's missing? he's living a day he'll soon forget
that's one more time around, the sun is going down
the moon is out, but he's drunk and shouting, putting people down
he's pissing, he's living a day he'll soon forget
counts his money every morning
the only thing that keeps him horny
locked in a giant house, that's alarming
the townsfolk, they all laugh
sorry is the fool who trades his love for high-rise rent
seems the more you make, equals the loneliness you get
and it's fitting, he's barely living, a day he'll soon forget
that's one more time around, there is not a sound
he's lying dead clutching benjamins, never put the money down
he's stiffening, we're all whistling
a man we'll soon forget

I was just nowhere near your neighborhood...
